Summer Wildflowers

Columbine

What’s the difference between a wildflower and a weed? Not too much. Here are some of the more familiar wildflowers I see on my walks at this time of year. Above, along the ditches and drains are millions of these gorgeous columbines.

Goldenrod

Goldenrod: So pretty to look at but it wreaks havoc on your sinuses!

Purple Aster

This purple aster just showed up one year in our front garden. It’s so delicate and pretty that we kept it, a former weed!

Bindweed

Bindweed is closely related to morning glories; however, it will strangle your garden plants to death.

Wild sunflowers

Wild sunflowers grow everywhere in the South Valley and are a favorite with birds.
