Well, the crew from Desert Gardens has trimmed, pruned, swept, blown, and scooped up all the debris in our one-half acre yard and I’m ready for the 2017 garden season. Above is the newly-cleaned, xeriscaped front yard in late afternoon. And here is a brief tour of our garden so far, inside the greenhouse and out in the yard.
- Lilacs blooming are a fairly obvious sign of spring, and butterflies love them.
- White daffodils are coming up in the east bed of roses and succulents.
- On the front patio among the pansies are variegated canna lily sprouts
- In the greenhouse, waiting for the end of frosts, are two of my favorite coleus plants. The vine headed right is a passion fruit that I’m trying to train to wrap around a tomato cage.
- Also blooming in the greenhouse is our Meyer lemon tree. A dwarf, of course.
- Back on the front patio, the pansies rule. They are incredibly cold tolerant
