Using Garden Fabric

After rototilling the compost and/or steer manure into the raised beds, they are raked smooth and then the drip hose is laid down so that the entire bed can be irrigated in about a half hour. The next step is to staple the plastic garden fabric to the sides of the raised beds so all the hoses are covered. This prevents excessive evaporation from the the watered bed and keeps weeds from becoming established. Now you are ready to plant and add the final layer of mulch. Note: The tools on the fabric are temporary so that the wind doesn’t  get under the fabric and blow it away.
